You also need to have charisma and empathy, since you will interact with patients regularly.

It’s said that it’s not a job where you go in for the money simply because the entry salary is usually around $22,000 and can go up to $35,000 at the most. This is because the responsibilities are no where near that of a doctor, nor is the education. To enter the field, you need to go to school and get a certificate, but you don’t need any advanced studies.

Most of your actual, needed knowledge will be acquired on the job as you do many different tasks for the personnel on the ground. You do need to be accredited to enter the workplace, and often it will include an internship. It’s a fairly easy and straightforward job once you know the routine, but you still need to be able to adapt to new situations.

You can have long hours, and overtime is common, because the medical field is so overwhelmed with patients, and lacks the proper resources in many cases. You’ll probably end up working in a hospital or clinic, and there you will get to know most tasks that need doing over the months or years you work there.

No one goes into the nurse assistant field for the salary. They usually do it because they like to help people. Indeed, one of the main benefit of being a nurse assistant is to be able to help improve people’s lives, and to help out the crowded health care system. It’s a job where, ironically, you may be thanked a lot for being there and helping out, but certainly not one where you’ll become rich.
